Alyssa Carson
Short CV: Alyssa Carson (born March 10, 2001, Hammond, Louisiana) is an American astrobiologist and high-profile space advocate widely recognized for her ambition to be one of the first humans on Mars. She graduated from Baton Rouge International School and earned a B.Sc. in Astrobiology from the Florida Institute of Technology, where she was awarded the 2022 Student Catalyst Award and was a member of Gamma Phi Beta sorority. Currently, Alyssa is a PhD candidate in biology at the University of Arkansas, focusing on astrobiology research under Dr. Timothy Kral, and teaches undergraduate microbiology lab courses.Beginning space camp at age seven, Alyssa became the only person to attend every NASA space camp worldwide, including Turkey and Canada. She completed the NASA Passport Program by visiting all U.S. NASA visitor centers and was invited to high-profile events and panels, such as NASA’s MER 10 Panel in Washington, DC, and was featured in documentaries including "The Mars Generation".Alyssa became the youngest graduate of the Advanced PoSSUM Space Academy and is certified in suborbital mission research. She acquired her pilot’s license at eighteen, and holds certifications in scuba diving, skydiving, hyperbarics, and microgravity flight. She is fluent in English, French, Spanish, and Mandarin, and has visited over 26 countries.Through her online identity “NASABlueberry,” Alyssa has built a global following, inspiring youth in STEM and space exploration. She is a published author, public speaker, and brand ambassador partnering with organizations like Louis Vuitton, Nike, Horizn Studios, and more. She is not officially affiliated with NASA or any national astronaut corps, though she continues active international scientific and outreach work.
