Yaman Akot
Short CV: Yaman Akot is an Indian space analogue astronaut, astrobiologist, and biotechnologist, specializing in planetary science and life science solutions for extreme space environments. A graduate in Planetary Science from the University of Aberdeen, Yaman was selected as one of the first analogue astronauts for India’s inaugural HOPE Mars simulation mission conducted by Protoplanet in collaboration with ISRO’s Human Space Flight Centre in the Tso Kar Valley, Ladakh (2025). During the 10-day simulation, Yaman conducted biomedical, psychological, and operational research on human adaptation to isolation, collecting omics samples, testing health protocols, and validating life-support technologies in Mars-like conditions. Their expertise covers genomics, proteomics, and metabolomics in space, team resilience, and applied life science innovation for Indian and global spaceflight programs.
